AAPI Community Festival and Girls Crushing It Pop Up Shop

We had a busy day today! We kicked off AAPI Heritage Month by attending an AAPI Community Festival in Oakland Chinatown’s Lincoln Square Park. We brought our marbled heart keychains and donated 100% of the proceeds to the park! It was so fun to be a part of a big festival with other AAPI makers local to the area. The BEST part was that we were right next to Pixar’s Turning Red Director Domee Shi and Production Designer Rona Liu! They were really friendly and we gave them a set of Turning Red inspired leather coasters as a thank you for coming out!

We wanted to stay at the festival longer but had to pack up and head to Orinda where Girl’s Crushing It was hosting a pop-up shop. GCI makes it really easy to participate in their fairs because they have canopies, tables and chairs set up already – that makes a big difference! We quickly set up and joined 50 other girl entrepreneurs in selling our handmade goods. We loved it! There was a DJ, an ice cream truck and even a photobooth! The best part is being around other girl entrepreneurs and knowing that we’re not the only ones who like running our own business. Oh – we also love the part at the end where a lot of us trade whatever we haven’t sold. Thank you to the many customers who stopped by and supported us and thank you to GCI for organizing a fun event!
